8:00 Mizugaki Lodge → 9:00 Fujimidaira Lodge → (set up tent) → 10:00 start to climb again → 11:35 Ridge Line → 13:45 Summit → 15:30 Fujimidaira Lodge
※ The paths connecting to the summit were clear and were not steep. But the ridge line's paths consisted mainly of rocks, so it was slippery.
Approach to Starting Point

- □ Time to Starting Point：About three and half hours one way by car.
- □ Further Information：The parking lot around Mizugaki Sanso is usually crowded with climbers especially on weekends. When I got there at 8:00, it was almost full.

My Impressions
Mt. Kinpu has easy access because the location is closer to Tokyo than other famous mountains like the Alps of Japan -- it takes just over three hours from Tokyo by car. And it has relatively high altitude, so we can enjoy the views from the summit like the picture at the top of this page. Can you find the climbers in this photo? It's been speculated that the big rock structure. That's why this mountains is popular.
I guess the big stone named Gojoiwa flew off from another mountain like Mt. Fuji when a volcano erupted, but no one knows for sure. At any rate, it's really worth seeing. Some people climb that rock without rock climbing equipment. I strongly recommend not doing that. Mt. Kinpu is a good choice for beginners, but can be boring for experienced climbers. Gojo-iwa makes it a little more challenging for beginners.

This is Fujinodaira Lodge. I put up my tent near here.
When I got to the ridge line, I could enjoy the wide view.
The ridge line consists of these rocky paths.
The mountain on the left is Mt. Fuji.
The tall mountain in the center is Mt. Yatsuagatake. It's my favorite mountain. I have climbed it several times.
It looks like a painting. The clouds made amazing views.
These mountains all connected to each other, so this area is surrounded by nature.
Can you see the summit? The summit is just past Gojo-iwa, the rock formation in the distance.

This was my first view of Gojo-iwa. It looks very different from different angles.
Here is the summit of Mt. Kinpu. It has a 2,599m elevation.
It was the best weather and best views.
Sometimes people try to climb the rock. It's wise to just watch people who try to climb the rock and have to be taken to the hospital by helicopter rescue. Be safe!
